MY STORY
Dr. Bertrand Fote is an emergency physician, poet, author, certified financial fiduciary, and community leader. With more than two decades of experience in emergency medicine, he brings a rare blend of clinical knowledge, lived experience, and creative insight to his writing.
He is the author of Shadows of Deception, a medical thriller that explores the dark intersection of science, conspiracy, and human vulnerability. He has also published two poetry collections: Reflections from Within and Floodgates – Emergency Medicine Life in Verse, both inspired by his experiences in healthcare and his reflections on life, purpose, and resilience.
Beyond literature, Dr. Fote is committed to empowering individuals and underserved communities. Together with his lovely wife Laura, an accomplished entrepreneur and humanitarian, he co-founded The Gatsby Showcase Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes healthcare access and equity, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship through education and mentorship. Laura’s vision and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the Foundation’s impact, and her unwavering drive continues to inspire Dr. Fote in both his professional journey and creative pursuits.
In the financial services space, Dr. Fote holds the Certified Financial Fiduciary® designation, offering guidance with integrity and empathy. He also holds a medical degree from Howard University, an MBA from Auburn University, and a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the University of the District of Columbia. In recognition of his service, he received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joseph R. Biden.
